OLD MERVS
At the heart of Old Mervs lies an unbreakable bond between lifelong friends David House and Henry Carrington-Jones, who hail from the tiny farming community of Kojonup, a town three hours south of Perth, Western Australia.
Their musical journey began in a repurposed stable during their high school days. Henry on drums and David on guitar/vox set the stage for what would become a unique, slacker brand of indie rock that quickly propelled Old Mervs into the spotlight.
Amid pandemic lockdowns, the duo seized the opportunity to tour relentlessly within the iron curtain of Western Australia, selling out shows and cultivating a devoted fanbase enchanted by their distinctive sound, notably the breakout single “Cellphone”.
As their streaming numbers soared into the millions, Old Mervs, signed to indie stalwart label Dew Process, and found themselves on an increasingly upward trajectory. The band’s breakthrough started when their song “Where I Go” charted at #123 in the 2022 triple j Hottest 100, spurred by votes from their rabid fans despite only three radio spins that year.
This triumph propelled Old Mervs into more mainstream awareness, and was followed by them supporting international giants like Liam Gallagher and The Wombats, as well as performing on major festival line ups, including Splendour in the Grass and Groovin the Moo.
As a result, their second EP Give It Up (2023), debuted at #2 on the ARIA Australian Albums chart and “Sweetheart”secured a spot at #47 in the 2023 triple j Hottest 100, solidifying them as one of the premiere acts in the country.
With new music on the horizon, the duo continue to hit home runs with their latest singles “What You’ve Lost” and “Forget It”.
Fresh from selling out their biggest headline show to date at the Fremantle Arts Centre in WA and wrapping up their massive sold out headline tour across the Australia and New Zealand, the fast rising duo are only just getting started, embarking on an impressive UK tour this November, with much more on the horizon.
